Krumme Chiropractic Conditions We Treat: PDF Print E-mail

This list is by no means comprehensive, as there are many conditions that chiropractic care is effective for. At Krumme Chiropractic, we listen to the symptoms you are experiencing and pay attention to what you are seeking, so we can best treat you, the patient; not just a given condition you might present with. To learn more about the most common conditions we find ourselves treating, please read the symptoms of each condition below.

Sciatica: Sciatica pain may be caused by compression and/or irritation of nerve roots, or by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve itself. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, and/or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, there may be numbness and/or muscular weakness in legs as well as difficulty in moving or controlling the legs. These symptoms are typically only felt on one side of the body.

Whiplash: Whiplash is a term used to describe an injury to the soft tissues of your neck. This is caused by an abnormal motion or force applied to your neck that causes movement beyond the neck's normal range of motion. Symptoms might consist of neck pain, neck swelling, neck muscle spasms, headaches, soreness located in the back of your neck and/or difficulty moving your neck around. Whiplash is frequently a result of a car accident; however, this condition can be caused by many other factors too.

Pinched Nerve: A pinched nerve is caused when a nerve is damaged or injured by direct pressure or compression. The most common symptoms of a pinched nerve located in the back or neck are pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness of the muscles along the path of the nerve. For example, if you have a pinched nerve in the neck, you might feel pain in the neck and numbness in your arms. And a pinched nerve in the lower back can cause back pain and stiffness with numbness in your legs.

Bulging Disc: A bulging disc located in the lower back is a condition related to the spine that occurs when a disc bulges through a crevice in the spine. This happens when the disc shifts out of its normal alignment and most often occurs simply as a result of age. It usually comes on gradually over time. Symptoms might include back and leg pain, weakness in legs, as well as numbness and tingling down the legs. In addition, the pain usually worsens when becoming active and is relieved to some degree when resting.

Slipped Disc: Although they do not actually "slip," a disc may split or rupture. A slipped disc can cause the disc to fail, allowing the gel to escape into the surrounding tissue. This can place pressure on the spinal cord or on a nerve and cause pain either around the damaged disc or anywhere along the area controlled by that nerve. Symptoms for a slipped disc might include numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain in the buttocks, back, legs, or feet; as well as pain with movement, straining, coughing, or doing leg lifts.
